 Older
campers from the 8 to 13 year old groups are part of a special section called "The
Explorers".
Both
girls and boys, in addition to participating in regular and special activities, will take part in other
activities of their own.
Explorers
will experience the challenges of a 24 hour rally. Calling on all their abilities,
points will be accumulated by solving enigmas, realizing special missions and successfully
meeting physical challenges. Resourcefulness, imagination and group spirit will be
essential to this day.
In
addition, the Explorers will get their first taste of the Appalachian Trail. A three-day
trek on a section of the Appalachian
Trail will give everyone a good idea of what it is store for them when they are back
the following year as "Pioneers".
And
that's not all! Explorers will spend a second day at the ocean. The first part of
the day will be spent on the beach at Reid State Park, then, it's off to Boothbay
Harbor for a boat
excursion!
