Camp
Tekakwhita is privileged because it is only a one hour drive from the ocean. On a
particularly warm and sunny day, buses will take everyone to Popham Beach state Park,
known as one of the nicest beaches in Maine.

Upon
arrival, campers scramble to be be the first to hit the surf. Only lunch time will
bring them out of the water! Security is the main concern during the day. In addition
to local lifeguards being on duty, each staff member is assigned three or four campers
for the duration of the day. His or her concern is the well being of the group.

After
lunch, during an expedition to the island at low tide, you may come across crabs
or a sea star! A collection of shells is always appropriate! The hardiest will visit
the old Popham Fort situated near the Kennebec river.
Our
own sand castle competition always draws large crowds of locals!!
